What will the test (8th May) cover?

Just to make everybody remember about the test:

It's based on unit 4 of your book and will include tasks checking your knowledge of vocabulary we've studied (see the posting below) as well as the aspects of grammar we've been practising for a few lessons: Present Perfect Simple and Present Perfect Continuous tenses.

If you want to prepare well for the test, go through the pages 34-40 0f your book, as well as review pages 140, 141 and 127. Remember about the extra word list posted below and read the handouts you got from me in class. Don't worry, you still have a lot of time for this, over a week, and there will be one more revision lesson on Wednesday the 6th May.

Here are some extra exercises on present perfect:

Presentations, part 2

Hello,

today we are going to continue working on the presentations. As there are no lessons from Wednesday to Friday, you can spend this time finishing your presentations and making them just perfect :-) So the homework after this lesson is: finish your work and put it on your class blog.
How to do it? Save your presentation as a movie first, then go to YouTube and and register there, next upload the presentation there. If you are successful with it, you can easily copy the presentation from YouTube to your blog.
We'll see who can be the fastest in doing it, you can earn extra credit!
Then go on watching each others' pieces of work and don't hesitate to post comments!

Good luck and see you next week, enjoy another school break!

The lesson on presentations

Hello there,

we'll move the lesson in the computer lab from Monday to Wednesday in the week before Easter. Please come prepared.
The students who are interested in making the presentations about our school, Warsaw and Poland have a plan of your presentation ready either on a piece of paper or typed in a document. The plan should include:
- what information will be put in the presentation,
- links to where the photos will be taken from.
Try the Windows Movie Maker program on your own but if you have problems with operating it, don't worry, I will show you in class.

Not interested in making the presentation? Let's see what you can do. Choose from the list or do both.
1) Find the quizes we did on nature and make a list of all the new words which appeared there. Include the part of speech of each word and the explanation of the meaning or the translation into Polish. Here are the links:
- Animals:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/apps/ifl/worldservice/quiznet/quizengine?ContentType=text/html;quiz=1252_animals
- Plants:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/apps/ifl/worldservice/quiznet/quizengine?ContentType=text/html;quiz=1229_plants
(We haven't done this one yet, but it's also on our list, do it now).
- Countryside walk:

- Nature:

2) Look for similar quizes and other interesting and useful information on the net about the Present Perfect Simple and Continuous forms, read and try it, bookmark the links and let other students know about them (post on the blog or be ready to inform us in class).

That's it for now, if you have questions, post them in the comments below, please.
See you in class,
Your teacher Anna

Code of behaviour on our blogs

Hello,
at last all the three groups have created the blogs and there is enough content to read on each of them. I think they are all great. You can have a look yourself and post comments:

www.2b-domeyko.blogspot.com
www.domeykoenglishclass-2d.blogspot.com
www.adomeyko.blogspot.com

With group 2b we have discussed what the proper behaviour online should be. Please, read the list we have made, comment and follow it. I hope everyone will agree.

1) Respect other people on the blogs, be polite in your posts and comments.
2) If you're an administrator, don't change anything in other students' postings. You can only
edit and change the postings you have written.
3) Don't publish critical comments, you don't have to write anything if you don't like someone's
work.
4) Give advice only if someone asks for it directly, e.g. 'what do you think?', but always find
something positive first.
5) Use English only.

Our next lesson in the computer lab is going to be next week, Monday or Wednesday, I'll let you know in class tomorrow. Prepare a plan for your presentations by the end of this week please, on the lesson in the computer lab we are going to finish working on them.

See you at school tomorrow,
your teacher Anna

Friday lesson in the computer lab

Hello,
tomorrow all the groups will be working on their class blogs. We're going to attach photos and profiles about ourselves. I will also welcome volunteer groups wishing to make presentations about our school, about Warsaw and about interesting tourist sights in Poland.

What presentation project would you like to take part in?

Those of you who don't want to get involved in these projects will have a chance to do more quizes on the natural environment and prepare your own quiz for other students.

I hope you'll enjoy the lesson, see you in class!

Thanks for the comments! They're all very interesting (and in good English, well done!). Don't worry, I think the students from Buenos Aires will soon join us. Remember, it's the begining of a new school year in Argentina so they need to organize themselves first and it's never easy after a long summer holiday, is it? :-)
I haven't identified one person, please help me anybody, who is PK?

Also feel free and sign in the list of followers of this blog, include a picture of yourself or yours too.
Soon we'll be taking group photos to post them on your new class blogs along with your profiles and stories. Get ready! See you at school!
